M-8 Greyhound Armored Car 1:72 Scale Model Kit

At the beginning of World War II, the U.S. Army relied on lightweight and lightly armed reconnaissance vehicles known as "scout cars" for advanced scouting missions. As the conflict evolved, the need for better-protected and more heavily armed reconnaissance vehicles led to the development of the M-8 Greyhound armored car.

Representing a significant advancement in battlefield mobility and firepower, the M-8 Greyhound offered increased protection and operational flexibility. Equipped with a 37mm cannon mounted in a rotating turret, it was capable of supporting frontline troops while carrying out reconnaissance duties.

The M-8 Greyhound first saw action on the Italian Front, participating in operations from Monte Cassino to Anzio, before taking part in the D-Day landings and subsequent campaigns in Normandy. Despite the challenging terrain encountered during the early stages of the invasion, the vehicle proved highly effective thanks to its speed, reliability, and versatility. Its success led to widespread use not only by the U.S. Army but also by numerous Allied nations throughout and after the war.
